Are you a film/video, new media, or multidisciplinary artist in need of some career advice? The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is pleased to announce an upcoming session of its popular Doctor’s Hours program, which is designed to provide creatives with practical and professional advice. Starting at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 11, you can register for 20-minute, one-on-one appointments with up to three arts professionals to ask questions and receive actionable tips for advancing your arts career.

Livia Bloom Ingram, Film Curator and Vice President of Icarus Films Icarus Films is a distribution firm that The New York Times calls "a haven for nonfiction films that are at once socially conscious and supremely artful." Ingram has presented programs at venues including the Cinémathèque Française, Museum of the Moving Image, and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). She is the editor of the book Errol Morris: Interviews (University Press of Mississippi, 2009), and her writing has appeared in journals including Cinema Scope, Cineaste, Filmmaker, and Film Comment.

Iyabo Boyd, Independent Film Producer, Writer/Director, and Entrepreneur Boyd is currently producing the feature documentary For Ahkeem by Emmy-winning directors Jeremy Levine and Landon Van Soest. She previously held positions at filmmaker support institutions Chicken & Egg Pictures, Tribeca Film Institute, Hamptons Film Festival, and IFP. In 2015, Boyd started the Brown Girls Doc Mafia, a collective for women filmmakers of color, and in 2016 she founded the documentary consulting firm Feedback Loop. Boyd is a 2016 Sundance Creative Producers Fellow, and a 2016 Impact Partners Creative Producers Fellow. She graduated from NYU’s Tisch School with a BA degree in Film & Television in 2006.

Peter Gynd, Director, Lesley Heller Gallery Gynd is an independent curator, fifth generation artist, and the director at Lesley Heller Gallery in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Gynd studied at the Alberta College of Art and Design and has exhibited in both Canada and the United States. Notable exhibitions curated by Gynd include a permanent exhibition at the Foundation Center, NY; an acclaimed two-person presentation at SPRING/BREAK Art Show (2015); and group exhibitions at Present Company, NY; NARS Foundation, NY; the Northside Festival, NY; Lesley Heller Workspace, NY; and at the Dynamo Arts Association, Vancouver, Canada. Gynd’s exhibitions have been featured in Hyperallergic, The Carnegie Reporter, Blouin Artinfo, and Gothamist. Gynd has been a guest visitor at Residencies Unlimited, Kunstraum, and ChaNorth Artist Residency, and a guest juror at 440 Gallery and Sweet Lorraine Gallery.

Dr. Les Joynes, Multimedia Artist Joynes' work has been documented in Art Monthly, Sculpture Magazine, NHK Television, and in two recent books on site-specific art. He is co-author of Going Beyond: Art as Adventure and Museum 2050 (Cambridge Scholars, 2018). A Visiting Professor at Renmin University, Beijing, Joynes has given lectures on multi-media art at Cambridge University; Columbia University; University of California; and Peking University, Beijing. In New York, he is a scholar on art and visual cultures at Columbia University and serves on the Editorial Board for ProjectAnywhere, a collaborative project between University of Melbourne, Australia, and Parsons School of Design, The New School. Recently selected as a ZERO1: Art and Technology Artist, Joynes is also recipient of the Erasmus Scholarship for the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts, Paris; the Japan Ministry of Culture Scholarship, Tokyo; and the Fulbright-Hays Award. He has also been a Fellow at University of the Arts London and the Bauhaus, Dessau.

Matthew Lyons, Curator, The Kitchen As Curator at The Kitchen, Lyons has organized numerous exhibitions, performances, and other programs since 2005. Recent work includes projects with Chitra Ganesh, Trajal Harrell, nora chipaumire, Xaviera Simmons, Sarah Michelson, Aki Sasamoto, Constance DeJong, Kembra Pfahler, and Katherine Hubbard. Upcoming work includes projects with Moriah Evans and Lea Bertucci. During his tenure, he has organized group exhibition including The Rehearsal; The View from a Volcano: The Kitchen’s SoHo Years 1971-1985; One Minute More; Just Kick It Till It Breaks (catalog); Between Thought and Sound: Graphic Notation in Contemporary Music (catalog); and The Future As Disruption. He has also worked on the group exhibitions Dance Dance Revolution at Columbia University, Character Generator at Eleven Rivington Gallery, and Two Moon July at Paula Cooper Gallery. Lyons has contributed catalog essays on the work of Mika Tajima and Vlatka Horvat, and other writing has appeared in Document Journal, Flash Art, PERFORMA 07: Everywhere and All at Once, and Work the Room: A Handbook of Performance Strategies. He is Contributing Editor at Movement Research Performance Journal, having edited its “Six Sides, Typologically Distinct: Black Box / White Cube” series, which he initiated, between 2009-2015.

Blandine Mercier-McGovern, Content Strategy & Film Acquisitions, Distribution Executive Mercier-McGovern is a passionate and innovative film acquisition, content strategy, and distribution executive based in Brooklyn. While Head of Licensing & Content Strategy at Kanopy and Head of Distribution at Cinema Guild, Blandine discovered, acquired, and led the release of hundreds of award-winning films, from the big screen to video-on-demand. She’s an avid podcast and audiobook listener, and was a ”Made in NY” Women’s Film, TV and Theatre Fund panelist in 2018.

Anne Wheeler, Curatorial Associate, The Whitney Museum of American Art Wheeler is a New York-based artist, curator, writer, and art historian. She received her BA degree from the University of California, Berkeley, double-majoring in English and the Practice of Art, and is now an ABD doctoral candidate in Art History at the Institute of Fine Arts at NYU, specializing in Modern and Contemporary Art. Wheeler joined the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in 2010 at the founding of its Panza Collection Initiative research project, and served as assistant curator for the major international loan exhibitions On Kawara – Silence (2015) and Peter Fischli David Weiss: How to Work Better (2016). With Shawna Vesco, Wheeler curated the apexart Franchise Program exhibition Un-Working the Icon: Kurdish 'Warrior-Divas' in Berlin, Germany, in 2017. Wheeler is currently working as a curatorial associate at the Whitney Museum of American Art, guiding the acquisition of a major gift from the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation as she completes her doctoral dissertation titled 'Language as Material: Rereading Robert Smithson.'

Lauren Zelaya, Acting Director of Public Programs, Brooklyn Museum Zelaya is a cultural producer, curator, and museum educator based in Brooklyn, NY. At Brooklyn Museum, Zelaya curates and produces the Target First Saturdays and other free and low-cost public programs that invite over 100,000 visitors a year to engage with special exhibitions and collections in new and unexpected ways. As a curator, advocate, and educator, Zelaya is committed to collaborating with emerging artists and centering voices in our communities that are often marginalized, with a focus on film and performance and creating programming for and with LGBTQ+, immigrant, and Caribbean communities. In her spare time she hosts a bi-weekly radio show celebrating creatives in Brooklyn and is a screener for the Brooklyn Film Festival. Known and respected equally for her nail art and her fierce commitment to bringing art and culture to the people, Zelaya was named one of Brooklyn Magazine’s “30 Under 30″ in 2018. Previously, she worked in education at the Queens Museum and the Museum of the Moving Image, and with emerging artists in Queens as a program coordinator with the Queens Council on the Arts. She is a proud alumna of the Brooklyn Museum’s Education and Public Programs Fellowship and received her BA degree in Art History and Film Studies from Smith College.

Sightseeing Places in Mount Abu

Mount Abu is a beautiful hill station situated on the top of Arravali hills near Gujarat and Rajasthan Border. Tourists are visiting this destination from all the corner of the world. this hill station have many beautiful sightseeing places to visit. Which has its own historical story.

Places to visit in Mount Abu :

(1) Dilwara Jain Temple :

It is one of the best places to visit in Mount Abu and appears to be genuinely essential temple from outside yet every cloud has a silver coating. All this was done at a time when no transport or roads were available at a height of 1200+ Mtrs in Mount Abu, Huge blocks of marble stones were transported on elephant backs from the Arasoori Hills at Ambaji to this remote hilly region of Mount Abu.

Dilwara temples is also a popular Jain pilgrimage attraction.Dilwara Jain Temples are one of the finest Jain temples known world over for its phenomenal design and radiant marble stone carvings. It seems fairly basic temple from outside but every cloud has a silver lining, the temple interior showcases the extraordinary work of human craftsmanship at its best.

(2) Guru Shikhar :

Gurushikhar, a peak at an altitude of 5,676 feet (1722 meters), is the highest peak in Rajasthan and is one of the best places to visit in Mount Abu. One of the most popular attractions in Mount Abu, Nakki Lake is an ancient and sacred lake. Nevertheless, the place is a great spot for picnic with friends and family alike. The lake is also famous as Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed here leading to the construction of Gandhi Ghat, which is also a popular monument located here. There are plenty of hotels, restaurants and eateries located near the lake which offer some great local food at really cheap prices. The fountains in the lake add to its natural beauty.

(4) Trevor's Tank :

Trevor’s Forest park is a men made crocodile breeding spot located 4 kilometers away from mount Abu. The entrance to this place was amazing and gave me a fresh and relaxing feel. Make sure you visit this place during mild winter months of November and December. It is a great picnic spot which will only be enhanced by the good company of your family or friends.

The place also house various fauna like the black bear and obviously the various crocodiles resting on the rocky shores. the Best place to click forest photography. If there’s one place you must experience in mount Abu, it’s got to be Trevor’s tank.

(5) Sunset Point :

The Wedding of Sophie and Sky set to ABBA Music hosted by Off Broad Street Players at The Levoy Theatre in Vineland, NJ

I was invited to a wedding of my second cousin twice removed, Donna Sheridan’s daughter last night at the last minute. I'm glad it was casual dress but I was sorry that I didn't bring a gift. If you get invited to this wedding at the Levoy Theatre hosted by Off Broad Street Players be sure to grab a drink at the bar (*see my note below), and listen to a slew of songs written by the Wedding Band, Abba. This wedding was directed by the wonderful wedding planner John T. Stephan and was a wonderful night!

Apparently my cousin Donna's daughter Sophie was getting married to a guy named Sky and wanted to get walked down the aisle by her father. Turns out though that my second cousin twice removed Donna hooked up with three guys a long time ago and they could have all been the father. So Sophie just up and invited all three of them. And they all showed up! How scandalous! It all went crazy from there!

Direction and Choreography by wedding planner John T. Stephan took on a real crazy undertaking and decided to go ahead and just make it harder. "Stage Mamma Mia with impressive vocals, amazing choreography, and a set that belongs in Disney World? Boring! I have to make it immersive!" I joke with John that he doesn't sleep ever. Well now on top of that I believe that not only that but he must have won a fiddle contest with the devil!

So let me tell you about some of the wedding party and the guests!

Sophie (played by Corrine Podolski) was such the stunning bride! Her voice has such a piercing quality and her acting chops have only gotten better since the last time I saw her!

Okay one of the crazy bridesmaids, Ali (played by Caitlin Geisser), was such a crazy good actress and it was really fun to see her again onstage! It was a great kind of role that I had never seen her play before. The other bridesmaid Lisa (played by Nicolette Barr) was also a great dancer and a great fit for the other two young ladies. Wonderful singing in “Honey, Honey”.

I could just not stop laughing at Tanya (played by Christina Fuscellaro). This is a woman who knows who she is and will run right over anyone who isn't ready for her. A very well seasoned performer! You just have to get to know this wedding guest!

Rosie (played by Kristy Joe Slough) had me dying right before the wedding in her rendition of “Take a Chance on Me"! It takes a lot of talent to be that deliciously awkward. Great job!

I really loved the performance of my second cousin twice removed Donna (played by Carmen Delia Bryant). She's got some mad pipes and can dance like she's got a fire within her soul! I've seen her many times on the Levoy stage but this time she has out done herself!

Okay some people would be tempted to say that Sky (played by Scott Bonerbo) is just too young to get married or mix it up with performers that are a bit older than him. They would also be stupid! He's a wonderful performer and I hope he and Sophie have a wonderful life together!

Pepper (played by Jerrod Ganesh) is really that greasy bartender we've seen at every wedding! But he really is a great dancer! Come watch him cut a rug!

Harry Bright (Played by Andrew Jarema) I've seen this guy play a lot of people before and this may have been my favorite role ever! So smooth and wonderful and if you know him you'll know that playing such a milquetoast man is such a feat for a guy who has played some really heavy roles in the past.

It's been a while since I've seen Bill Austin (played by Don Fransko) onstage and it was wonderful to see him again! He is just such a handsome gentleman and a confident performer! Great job!

I really appreciated the soul Sam Carmichael (played by Frank Dimauro) put on display. He allowed himself to be so tender and vulnerable and I was right there feeling it with him in his songs!

Okay again John Stephan assembled such a great mix of performers that I can't choose between them. So here's a collective background shout out to the entire ensemble of wedding guests and hotel staff. I have never seen an ensemble that is so cohesive and spectacular! Break a leg on the rest of the performances!

Special shout-out to Dance Captain Lindsay Nakai who must have danced her feet off for all these numbers! She has an excellent frame and masterful command of her young instrument. I've seen older dancers with less confidence and skill. Great work!

Music Direction by Mandy Milne led the nine piece wedding band through the greatest hits of disco icons ABBA! I really admired the work of the four keyboards in the band. Four keyboards!!! They were a hit!

It's really hard to do a wedding featuring an icon of the 70s but set in the early 2000's. But Costume Designer Katie Kiessling really nailed the vibe of both worlds with rich hues that just popped in all the heavy lights.

Again I'm looking at awesome hair and make-up by John Rattacasa (my theatrical good luck charm!) and it is totally on point! It's a big compliment to say that I couldn't tell what was a wig and what was really hair they were all so fabulous! I wish I was getting married all over again just so he could do me and Dana's make-up!

I really wish that there was a set for Set Designer Mary Boner to design but it seems like they just found a real Greek village that no one was using and got Wayne Wriggins and Tom Kiessling to airlift it to NJ and put it on the Levoy stage. This is too realistic to be a stage set. So sorry Mary didn't get to do anything this show. Well there's always a next time!

Lighting Design by Tyler Daddario combines a mastery of intelligent lighting and vibrant hues! I have a special place in my heart for good lighting done well and Tyler always has a even more special place in my heart as a great designer.

The lighting heavy on both awesomemess AND strobe lighting so please take the strobe and haze warning seriously if you're triggered by things like that. I too have a neurological condition and I'll let you know that there were times where it was hard for me to stay in my seat. I sat in the front row center so you don't have to. The wedding planner assures me it much less triggering in the back.

I have to give the sound designer of the year award to wedding DJ Sean Pedrick! I hardly ever talk about mic issues because every show I've seen has had some. They're just so prevalent everywhere. But this show had the smoothest sound and less issues than any show I've seen and by far this was the kind of show I would have forgiven several issues! Great job!

So apparently guys this wedding is going on multiple times at the Levoy and all of you are invited! You guys are really in for a treat. They've really out done themselves this time! And tell my cousin Donna and the other guests hi while you're there!

**Mamma Mia by the Levoy Theatre is a very immersive production of the Musical written by Catherine Johnson with music and lyrics by Benny Anderssen and Björn Ulvaeus which allows the audience to come onstage and mingle with the cast before and during the show. Characters will come out and talk to you. There is also heavy haze and strobe lighting being used. If you are very sensitive to such things and sensory overload I would recommend to sit near the back.
